Dan Wendlandt heads up VMware's product + strategy for cloud native infrastructure, including OpenStack. His team guides VMware's contributions to the OpenStack community and related product efforts including VMware Integrated OpenStack (VIO). Previously, Dan served as the project technical lead (PTL) for the OpenStack Networking project (Neutron) and was a member of the OpenStack Technical Committee. Prior to VMware, he was both an early engineer and the first product manager at Nicira, the startup that popularized "software-defined networking" and "network virtualization". He graduated from Stanford with a degree in Computer Science and worked on networking and security in Carnegie Mellon's Computer Science PhD program before dropping out to join Nicira.
